Apple Slush

This last week my sister Elizabeth had lunch with our cousin Erin at Davison Orchards in Vernon. Being the foodie that I am, I was curious about what they ate and when I heard that Erin enjoyed a delicious apple slush, I decided to give it a try.

Do you have an ice cream maker that you rarely use? You can make slushes with it and they will be a lot better for you than the kind you can buy at 7-11.

My sister brought me back some apple juice, but you don't have to use this brand or apple juice. Use whatever you like.

If you are using an ice cream maker, you will know that the inner part must be frozen first. I poured in the juice and turned the machine on. Within about 10-15 minutes, I had apple slush.
If you don't have an ice cream maker, you can freeze juice in ice cube trays and then puree in a food processor or blender, adding enough juice to make it "slushy".

  1. Thanks for the idea! I realy enjoyed this drink and have been trying to think if it would just work with blended ice in the blender...but maybe would be too watery. DO you like your ice cream maker? I was given some money for my bday and was thinking about getting one. Any tips on brands or where you got it if you would recommend?

  2. Hi Erin,
Glad you enjoyed the idea :) I do like the ice cream maker, but must confess, I rarely use it. It is a fun thing to own and I think your kids would enjoy watching the ice cream form, but it does take some planning as the ice cream mixture needs to be chilled. I would recommend one that is self churning, but that is just me.
