A Few of My Favorite Things

The other day I was making some bread and while documenting the growth of the dough (other people do this, right?  ;)  ), I realized how much I enjoy seeing dough rise.  That got me thinking about doing a blog post on a few of my favorite things.  Let's face it...we are needing to find some things that we enjoy at home.  Maybe it isn't cooking for you.  Maybe it is your garden (or a good book or???).  Here are a few of my favorite things:

It will be of no surprise to you to know that an Afternoon Tea is one of my favorite things.  I've even started planning my next one, even though it can't happen yet...

I love homemade quiche, made in a homemade crust.  Taking it out of the oven and seeing it all puffed up and golden, makes the making of it worth it.  The taste is good, too.  I also love how versatile quiche is. You can put just about anything in it.

Scones.  Enough said.  If you search my blog posts, you will probably find that scones are featured quite regularly.  This recipe came from cookbook from the royal kitchen.

Frozen food - ready to go.  Mmm...yes, I'm in!  I prefer to eat my own cooking, but don't have time on weekdays, so going to the freezer and pulling out a freezer meal (a homemade tv dinner in this case), is a favorite thing for me :)  Just last week, I pulled out a homemade turkey dinner from the freezer.

Hot beverages!  My favorite hot drink is tea, and I drink that a lot.  I also enjoy iced tea, iced cappuccinos, and lattes. This one happens to be a pumpkin spiced latte, but I also enjoy an egg nog latte.  What kind of beverage can you make at home now that we are going to the coffee shop less?

Lazy weekend breakfasts...I don't get to enjoy these too often (regularly), but I sure can, now!

Lemon curd!  This is definitely one of my favorite things. Homemade lemon curd has the most amazing flavor!

Homemade gravy!  Yes, this is one of my favorite things!  My Mom always used to joke that gravy could be a beverage...just get me a straw, she would say.  (Don't worry, we never drank it, but we sure enjoyed it on mashed potatoes!).

Fresh, hot out of the oven, homemade bread.  This is definitely one of my favorite things.
What are your favorite things?
