When you are following a gluten-free diet, there are many things that you are not able to eat. I try to find as many substitutes as possible, so that if there is something special you want, you can still eat it. As it is camping season, smores seems to be one of those traditional camping foods. If this is something you like to indulge in, it is easy to do while maintaining gluten-free diet. Additionally, as you will see in the photos, you do not need a roaring campfire in order to make them, which is a good thing considering the fire ban where I live.
This was fairly simple to put together: gluten-free graham crackers, marshmallows, and nutella. I have checked the nutella website and the information provided indicates the product is gluten-free. If you have celiac disease, you may want to check if the product is made in a gf environment. My friend Nancy suggested using nutella for smores and I think it works great! Of course if you are able to eat wheat, my preferred cracker is a chocolate covered digestive cookie, which I first saw when I was camping with my friend Kim. Yes, you have to love friends who know how to make smores!
Simple and tasty!
