Peanut Butter Protein Rice Crispy Treat

These tasty treats come from a website called, Dashing Dish.  They are easy to make and taste delicious.  As you will see from the many photos below, I had two special helpers today, my nephew Levi and my niece Anna.

I thought it would be best for each of them to make a batch, so they each got their own bowl.

Ingredients:
4 cups Gluten-free Rice Krispies
1/2 cup Honey
1/2 cup Peanut Butter
1/2 cup vanilla or plain protein powder
pinch salt
Optional:  Semi-sweet or dark chocolate

Begin by spraying a 9 by 9 baking pan with non-stick cooking spray.  Set aside.
Measure 4 cups rice krispies.

Pour rice krispies into a large bowl.

 Add 1/2 cup honey

Looks like someone is doing a taste test

 Add 1/2 cup peanut butter

 Add 1/2 cup protein powder

Putting a damp cloth underneath a bowl can help to prevent it from moving around when stirring, which can help young children who want to help.

It took some time to combine all of the ingredients.

Spoon batter into the prepared baking dish.  I put some plastic wrap on top, which allowed Levi to push the mixture into the pan with ease.

Now it is time to lick the spoon!

 All done!
Place in the freezer for about 30 minutes, until they firm up, and move them into the fridge.  Keep rice krispie treats stored in the fridge to keep them at the perfect 'firm' texture.  (These can also be individually wrapped and put in the freezer).

If you are wanting to add chocolate, you can melt 1/2 cup chocolate chips in the microwave for approximately one minute.  Stir until melted and spread on top of bars.

Enjoy!
